Get Involved With the New Kemptown Carnival Forum – Special Public Meeting Invite
THE KEMP TOWN CARNIVAL NEEDS YOU!
Building on the most successful carnival yet in 2016, we are actively looking for people to join a newly established Kemp Town Carnival organisation and help shape the future of the Carnival. A special public meeting is being held on Saturday February 4th at 6pm in Sussex House on St Georges Road.
This meeting will decide whether the Kemp Town Carnival will go ahead in 2017 and will also start to shape the new Carnival team.
Whether you are a local resident, trader, artist or community group, or simply want to help make the Carnival happen, this is your opportunity to get involved.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
At the meeting on the 3rd we will be looking at various roles in community outreach and communication, press, finance, fundraising and volunteer recruitment. There are lots of ways you can help us secure the future of Kemp Town Carnival – delivering leaflets to local residents, helping on the door at fundraising events, or bucket shaking at Samba band busks throughout the city. You may wish to get involved with performance groups and city organisations, planning and managing performance areas at the Carnival, put on your own fundraising event, or help with poster designs and distribution. We are also looking for key roles in finance and bookkeeping, volunteer recruitment, and press management and marketing.
If you are interested and have the time and skills to help, then please either come along to the meeting or get in touch with Mat Cook, Director of Kemptown Carnival via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kemp Town Carnival has grown to be one of Brighton’s biggest free community street festivals, so at this meeting we will also be officially creating a new Kemp Town Carnival Community Interest Company to replace current KTC Association. The new entity is based upon the original platform of the KTC Association to give a voice to the Kemp Town community, whilst also legally protecting any future trustee, committee and working members. The new status as a CIC will also potentially open up the Carnival to wider funding opportunities.
We look forward to seeing you there on Feb 3rd at 6pm in Sussex House on St Georges Road.
